The White Desert (Sahara el-Beyda) is one of Egypt’s most surreal landscapes — a vast plateau of wind-carved chalk formations that turn golden at sunset and almost lunar-white by moonlight. We travel by 4x4 from Cairo through the Black Desert, Crystal Mountain and Agabat Valley before reaching the White Desert National Park.
You’ll camp directly among the formations, share a traditional Bedouin BBQ dinner around the fire, and wake to sunrise light spreading across the chalk rocks before a stop at a natural cold spring on the way back to Cairo.
Pickup from your Cairo or Giza address in the morning. Upon reaching Bahariya Oasis, we transfer to a 4x4 Jeep for the White Desert. We visit the Black Desert and the dune area, with lunch in El Heiz village. On the road to Farafra we stop at Crystal Mountain, then Agabat (El Akabat), where you can try sandboarding on the dunes. We continue to the White Desert to explore the wind-carved formations and the New Desert, before a Bedouin BBQ dinner and a night sleeping in tents under the stars.
Breakfast at camp, a stop at a natural cold spring, then departure back to Cairo or Giza. The trip ends back in Cairo/Giza by around 3:30 PM.

Our 2-Day / 1-Night tour starts from $150 per person for a private tour. For larger groups joining a shared tour (6+ people), the rate is less per person.
Round-trip transfer between Cairo and the desert (private or shared vehicle) plus 4x4 Jeep transport in the desert; full board with 3 freshly prepared meals (lunch, Bedouin BBQ dinner, breakfast) and bottled drinking water; tents, mattresses and warm blankets/sleeping bags; and an experienced local Bedouin guide throughout.
National Park tickets (approx. $5 / 100 EGP per person) are included in private package pricing or collected at the park entrance if required.
Transfers & Logistics
Yes. For private tours we provide direct door-to-door pickup and drop-off from any address or hotel in Cairo, as well as Cairo International Airport. Shared group tours use central pickup meeting points in Downtown Cairo or Giza.
The direct desert road between Bahariya Oasis and Siwa Oasis is closed to tourist traffic. If you plan to visit Siwa Oasis, the trip must be made via Cairo as a separate route.

Day 2: Sunrise breakfast → natural cold spring visit → return transfer to Cairo.

Landscape & Weather
The distinct white landscape is made of chalk and limestone created millions of years ago when the region was covered by an ancient ocean. Over time, wind and blown sand eroded the soft chalk into surreal, wind-sculpted formations shaped like giant mushrooms, ice cream cones, and animals.
The ideal season is October to April, when daytime temperatures are mild and pleasant (20°C to 28°C). Summer months (June to August) bring intense desert heat, with daytime highs frequently exceeding 38°C to 40°C.
Desert temperatures drop sharply after sunset. During winter (December to February), nighttime temperatures regularly fall between 5°C and 10°C, and can occasionally dip lower. We provide thermal sleeping bags and thick blankets for camping trips.
The landscape varies dramatically across the tour. The Black Desert features dark, volcanic basalt-capped hills surrounded by orange sand, while Agabat Valley (El Akabat) consists of towering yellow limestone cliffs and soft, deep sand dunes that require specialized 4x4 vehicles to navigate.
Rainfall is extremely rare in the Western Desert. Because of the clear skies, sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat) is essential during the day, while layers, thermal wear, and a warm jacket are necessary for cold nights around the campfire.
